EXPERT'S EXPLANATION

This dog has a slowly progressive compressive myelopathy of the lower cervical spinal cord. The condition is cervical spondylopathy (wobblers syndrome). Compression of the lower cervical spinal cord causes more severe signs in pelvic limbs. Thoracic limbs may be normal. Cervical pain is variable in this disorder. The tonic neck test often reveals proprioceptive deficits in the thoracic limbs.
