EXPERT'S EXPLANATION
This is a common presentation for Type I disk disease. Note the narrowed IVD space at L1-L2. This is the site of compression. In example 2, note the many calcified disks. These are not causing clinical signs (they have not extruded). It is the L1-L2 space that is problematic at this time.
