- List the organs of the male reproductive system and briefly describe the function of each.
- Describe the histological organization of the:
- testis
- epididymis
- ductus deferens
- prostate gland
- urethra
- penis
- Describe the processes of :
- spermatogenesis,
- spermatocytogenesis
- spermiogenesis.
- Describe the path (organs involved) taken by a spermatozoan from its point of origin to the point of deposition in the female reproductive tract.
- Describe the relationship between the Sertoli cell and developing sperm cells.
- Describe the "blood-testis" barrier and explain why it is important.
- Describe erectile tissue and explain the mechanism of erection.
- Identify histologic sections of the testis, epididymis, urethra, prostate gland and penis.
- Identify the following cells in the testis:
- Sertoli cells
- Spermatogonia
- Primary Spermatocytes
- Spermatids
- Spermatozoa
- Leydig cells
- Myoid cells
- Classify the epithelium in the testis, epididymis, prostate gland and urethra.
- Classify the connective tissue in all parts of the testis, epididymis, urethra, penis.
- Identify erectile tissue in a histologic section of the penis: corpus cavernosum penis and corpus cavernosum urethra.
- In a section of the penis, identify:
- pacinian corpuscle
- peripheral nerve
- helicine artery
- venous sinus.
