The next slide is another kidney from an ox. It represents a basic lesion. There are two or three major observations to be made here. The obvious one is that there are red specks all over the kidney. Unfortunately, that's a minor issue. What is another obvious change especially toward 9 o'clock in this picture? It's a diffuse change that may escape your notice. The kidneys are pale, right? It may also have a somewhat swollen appearance and if we were to cut it and examine the cut edge we might have an appearance something like the next photographs.
