Diagnostic Exercise 4

Case 3 (cont)

This is a kidney of a sheep. Could be a dog or cat, I suppose, since it is a nonlobulated kidney, maybe a pig.

I suppose if I saw this kidney and I didn't know a thing about the sheep, I would do a slightly unordinary examination in my necropsy to perhaps elucidate the pathogenesis of this lesion or these two lesions. Then, I might worry about the flock and ask myself what I can do about this problem.

Pelvic dilatation - early hydronephrosis and renal infarction.

Must examine lower urinary tract. Odor of carcass, odor of abomasal mucosa.

Manage herd outbreak
