Case 3 (a)

This photograph is a piece of liver. Perhaps the most important issue in this case is to appreciate the zonal nature of this lesion.

• Why is that important?

It would help you in your encounter with this exercise if you could imagine that you did this necropsy out in the boonies with the owner of this calf or that dog or whoever.

• Put yourself in the position of "Hey, I`ve seen this liver, now what else am I going to look at because this guy is going to want to know something here pretty soon."
• Do that and it will be a very nice review for you.

Zonal lesions of liver are usually caused by metabolic or toxic factors and a few infections. So....clinically you would include an enquiry into possible toxic exposure.
