Case 2 (a)

This photograph is from a dog.
- Systematically look at that kidney starting either in the pelvis or in the cortex and
evaluate each segment of kidney anatomy.
- Make your data base of observations and then try to decide what the process is. (There
may actually be more than one process.)
- What this dog might look like clinically?
The cortex is PALE AND THICK. Do you see striations? The renal crest
(papilla) is opaque white and necrotic = renal papillary necrosis. Consider this a large
white kidney. The observations are consistent with amyloidosis
