Different views of the same specimen. They are from a dog.
You should look at them and appreciate the lesion that exists and the process that is represented.
Then think about the diseases in the dog, and maybe in other species, that are capable of producing this kind of lesion.
There might or might not be breed correlations.
For each entity you come up with, think about its clinical recognition and confirmation.
In the left photograph, note the thickness and stiffness of the colon; there is possibly an ulcer at center of photo.
In the right photograph, note the thick cut edge of the mucosa and the thick distorted mucosal folds.
This is a proliferative (granulomatous) colitis in a dog.
There are infectious, allergic, idiopathic, and neoplastic causes of this appearance including histoplamosis, lymphosarcoma, granulomatous enterocolitis (Boxer), etc.
